Minecraft: Creating Score-Based Games Holiday Camp (7yo-8yo)

Minecraft, one of the best-selling video games of all time, is the ultimate pillar to showcase children's creativity with building blocks. The Minecraft Modding Level 1 course, allows students to create tailor-made and really fun modifications to their Minecraft Game. They will learn to create fun games, special levels and even multiplayer races through the wonderful world of coding. Programming will be done using drag and drop blocks inside Code Kingdoms. As the lessons progress, students will gain understanding of programming concepts including methods, conditionals, events. Students will develop computational thinking and design thinking skills as they create their own mods using code.


Must have played Minecraft for more than 2 to 3 hours :)

    Course Structure

    Lecture, Project-based learning, instructor-led brainstorming sessions

    Methods and Conditionals

    • Create their first mod and are introduced to the concept of Methods and Conditionals 
    • Students learn to give their player tools in Minecraft by using code 
    • Introduction to Events, students will use this to create a user event when they touch a button something special will happen

    Introduction to Events,Loops, Variables and Randomness

    • Learn how to create an programmable Event when the player clicks on a button 
    • Using the concept of Variable to create a score, and have the score increase or decrease
    • Learn how to use the concept of Random, and create a code in where the player is randomized to hide a certain item during the level

    Introduction to Player Versus Player Games, Changing Modes, Commands

    • Create a Rule-Based Player Vs Player Game 
    • Use Booleans to check if a player has placed an item 
    • Use Minecraft Commands to change the gamemode of the player
